The award was for “the Museum or Archaeological area which, on a national level, represents a case of best practice in the museographic layout, didactict activities and scientific quality capable of representing properly the issue of post-classical archeology”.
In Civico Museo Archeologico e della Città di Savona you can now follow the museum itinerary using QR-Code system that will help visitors, through their smartphones, to explore the exposition. There are 21 info points located throughout the Museum areas.
The Civico Museo Archeologico e della Città di Savona, opened in 1990 in the Fortress on the Priamàr hill, mainly exhibits materials from the archaeological research carried out by the International Institute of Ligurian Studies (in collaboration with the Archaeological Superintendency and the Municipality) since the mid-1950s, in the Priamàr itself and the area near it. The Museum is located inside the Palazzo della Loggia; the museum’s itinerary, which has ceramics as its leitmotif, is developed on two floors and illustrates the main excavation sites carried out so far in the Savona area.

The workshop offers an interactive approach to exploring the Fortress. Using photographic clues – including glimpses and specific details of the Priamàr Fortress – the children are encouraged to explore the space with attention and curiosity. The tour, led by expert staff, transforms the game of ‘discovery’ into an opportunity for historical and artistic exploration, facilitating learning through direct experience and the narration of the contexts uncovered. The Civic Archaeological Museum and of the City of Savona is offering a guided tour of the Priamàr monumental complex and the archaeological areas found within it, allowing visitors to rediscover the city’s heritage by travelling through time and the history of Savona.
