Why bio? 29 and 30 September 2023- 1 October 2023

On the occasion of the WHYBIO? 2023 – the ninth edition, which in addition to the usual themes relating to organic food, psychophysical wellbeing, natural cosmetics, the environment and ecological and sustainable living, this year will have the focus “TOWARDS A NEW WORLD OR A NEW WORLD? INNOVATION and DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY”, the Civic Museum of Archaeology and the City of Savona will organise a series of workshops and guided tours for all three days of the event.

Some information on the workshops (suitable for adults and children):

Workshop “Today I am an archaeologist”: this activity aims to provide some basic elements on archaeological excavation and its methodology. After a short presentation, a simulated archaeological excavation – in the educational area – of structures and burials similar to those found in the excavations can be carried out.

Workshop “Let’s paint a medieval laggione”: we propose reproducing the wonderful tiles, called “laggioni”, that decorated the most important palaces in Liguria from the 1400s onwards. We will provide the material and illustrate the laggioni decoration techniques used in ancient times. To inspire you, we will show you the collection of laggioni found in part during the archaeological investigations conducted in the Palazzo della Loggia and which adorned the Fregoso residence, and in part in the medieval church of San Domenico. At the end of the activity the laggione produced will remain with you.

Workshop “Let’s paint a medieval miniature”: using reproductions of original tools and colours, we will repeat the gestures of the ancient amanuensis surrounded by the precious museum collections. We will provide you with the materials and illustrate the decoration techniques used in ancient times. At the end of the activity the miniature produced will remain with you.
